6-foot-4, 215-pound RHP showed similarly to what we’ve seen from him at other events in the past, athletic with a large and commanding frame brings a presence to the mound, motion can be a little choppy as his tempo changes a little bit throughout, shows a little hitch during his leg lift when establishing some shoulder tilt, longer arm action comes through a high ¾ slot with regular effort, strides in line and lands solidly with balance. Fastball showed occasional cut but stayed mostly straight, curveball had gradual 11/5 shape, changeup stayed straight but had good arm action.
6-foot-4, 215-pound, RHH hits from a balanced stance, big-bodied player uses a toe-tap and short stride with a movement back of his hands to get loaded, lower half doesn’t quite clear through to create separation, average bat speed came through a mostly flat path to find the barrel some in BP. Defensively, showed average hands and footwork around the bag, plays fairly athletically, longer arm action shortens up and comes through a high ¾ slot, accurate throws had average arm strength behind them. Finished game play going 1-for-3 with a single and a walk.
6-foot-4, 215-pound RHP with large frame, uses an up tempo delivery with some funk, arm action is loose and clean and works through a ¾ slot, fastball shows occasional good arm-side run, curveball is solid with 11/5 action and some depth for strikes, has advanced feel for a very good changeup with late fade thrown with good arm speed and velocity difference off the fastball, worked a perfect inning with one strikeout (looking on CH). Locates pitches down in the zone and induces consistent ground ball contact. With frame and arm action, still has a possible jump in velocity coming.
8/2/16 - 60 Time: 7.72, Position Velocity: IF-76, Exit Velocity: 82
6-foot-4, 215-pound RHH with strong/physical frame, hits from a balanced stance, short stride, swing can get long on pitches away but does show the hand quickness to barrel up inner half pitches, has some strength generated bat speed, went 0-for-4 in game play with a gap to gap approach. Soft hands and above average footwork around the first base bag, ideal size to play first base, made accurate throws from a high-3/4 release.
6-foot-4, 215-pound RHP uses quicker arm action and an up tempo delivery, arm works through a ¾ slot with normal effort, pounds the strike zone with all pitches, fastball shows solid run and late sink, good feel for his curveball with 11/5 action, threw one very effective changeup with sink and fade that produced a swinging strikeout, allowed four hits (one bloop, one infield), no walks, and had the one strikeout in two innings. Demler’s sinking fastball produced consistent ground ball contact. He needs to be watched for additional velocity development.
