Stipelcovich emerged as one of the biggest surprises of Week 1 with his standout performance against Brusly last Friday night.
The Mississippi Delta recruit drew the start for Central Lafourche and turned in five strong innings, allowing just one hit and two runs (zero earned) with four walks and five strikeouts. While he didn’t factor into the decision, the Trojans ultimately outlasted the Panthers 3-2 in eight innings.
Stipelcovich operated with a quicker-paced delivery and a compact arm action, releasing the ball from a higher, over-the-top slot that created tough angle and downhill plane. His 86-89 mph fastball played especially well at the top of the zone from that release point, generating swing-and-miss when elevated. He paired it with a 77-79 mph breaking ball that tunneled effectively off the heater, keeping hitters from sitting on one speed.
Between the deception, life through the zone, and overall competitiveness, it was an eye-opening outing that firmly puts Stipelcovich on the radar early this spring.
