A fastball with hop has a flat approach angle and visually jumps through the zone. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher swing and miss average. Hop+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball

6-foot-6, 205-pound right-handed pitcher and first baseman. He is a good prospect in both spots. He ran a 6.72 at the event, as he moves very well. The approach in the infield is solid as he is active with his feet and the glove is reliable. He threw 72 mph across the diamond with minimal effort. The bat has an exit velocity of 96 mph. The setup is even in base and the front foot steps into the ball as it approaches the hitting zone. The path is clean and the hands work freely. On the mound, the fastball sat 82-83 mph with downhill tilt at times. The slider was up to 75 mph and should develop as an out pitch. The changeup is a developing pitch for him. The delivery is online and the slot is loose at above 3/4. The lift is repeated and the top half direction comes offline too quickly. The extension needs to be tapped into so his velocity can spike. The process is very athletic and he should adjust easily.

6-foot-6, 205-pound right-handed pitcher and right-handed hitting first baseman. He ran a 7.1 sixty at the event. The footwork and glove are solid at first base. He moves the feet well and is a large target to throw to. He threw 78 mph across the diamond to third base at the event. The bat has an exit velocity of 95 mph. The setup is even in base and he steps into the swing. The hands produced a long path that is slightly uphill at contact. The hands are loose and he has tremendous leverage with the bat. On the mound, the fastball sat 83-84 mph and downhill at times. The spin pitch is 74-75 mph and very good in shape. The changeup is 79-80 mph and a bit too hard. The arm is clean and the leverage to the plate is great. The feet are online and the slot is loose and above 3/4. The lift is methodical and repeated to the plate. The tracking of the front shoulder needs to improve as he comes offline. The arm is long and clean. Big time prospect based on what I saw.
