2/26/20

5-foot-11, 170-pound left-handed hitting first baseman and pitcher. On the mound, the fastball sat 70-71 mph, minimal arm side action to it. The spin pitch is 63-64 mph, big in shape. The delivery is online with the feet and above 3/4 in slot. The post foot is on top of the rubber and he is direct with the top half as he goes into foot strike. The arm works clean and free. The defense at first base is solid, the glove works and his feet are active. He threw 71 mph during the infield portion of the workout. The foot speed is very good as he moves well. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 75 mph. The setup is even in base, front foot open to start. The front foot closes down as the ball approaches the zone. The path is long to contact.

5-foot-11, 165-pound left-handed hitting first baseman and pitcher. Ran a 7.51 sixty on the laser at the event. The glove at first base is solid and he showed the ability to move his feet well. Threw 72 mph across the diamond at the event. At the plate, tee exit velocity of 79 mph. The setup is even in base, front foot steps into the swing. The path is slightly uphill to contact. The finish is cut off at contact, needs to accelerate through the ball. On the mound, the fastball sits 70-71 mph, minimal arm side run to the pitch. The spin pitch is 63-65 mph, the shape of the pitch is big. The changeup sat 65-66 mph, and is still developing. The delivery is online with the feet and the slot is directly over the top. The glove comes at the hitter, as he makes his way into foot strike. The tracking of the front shoulder needs to be aligned to the plate.

9/28/19

The 5-foot-11, 175 pound first baseman had a tee exit velocity of 78 mph.  The set up begins tall and slightly open.  He has a short simple load into a strong position to hit.  The swing plane is elevated and he stayed through contact well.  He hit a lot of balls hard during the BP.  He also ran a 4.6 second home to first base during the event. At first base, he was 73 mph across the diamond.  The feet are light and move well laterally.  He breaks down into a good fielding position with the glove in a relaxed fielding position.  The hands receive the ball well and he transitions into a good throwing position. On the mound, I like the simple, clean delivery.  The body stays in line and he gets down the mound.  The arm swing is clean and quick. He’s able to locate his fastball at 68-72 mph on both sides of the plate with late run.  The breaking ball was 67-68 mph with a 12 to 6 shape.  The change up showed good action and arm speed at 67 mph.

7/16/19

5-foot-11, 160-pound left-handed hitting first baseman and pitcher. Ran a 7.43 sixty at the event. The glove is solid around the bag, needs to smooth out the footwork at first base. Threw 75 mph across the diamond from first to third. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 82 mph. The setup is even in base, front foot steps into the swing. The path is slightly uphill to contact. The hands work freely and the bat path should improve with added physical strength. On the mound, the fastball sat 70-71, true in shape. The spin pitch is big in shape, sat at 62-63 mph. The changeup is a developing pitch. The delivery has minimal crossfire to it and the slot is high above 3/4. The glove comes to the hitter and he repeats the delivery. The arm is clean, needs to add arm strength as he matures.

3/03/19

5-foot-11,160-pound left-handed hitting first baseman and pitcher. Returning to action after recovering from an injury. The actions around the bag at first are appropriate and he handles the glove well. Threw 67 mph across the diamond out of an easy effort. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 77 mph. The setup is even in base, uses a pick up and put down of the front foot as the ball approaches the hitting zone. The path to the ball is flat and the hands work clean. Additional physical strength needs to be added as he matures. On the mound, the fastball sat 66-67 mph, minimal arm side action to the pitch. The breaking ball is big in shape, sitting 60-62 mph. The changeup is a work in progress, sat 64-65 mph. The delivery is online with the feet and above 3/4 in slot as the glove has a hard pull to it. This causes the slot to go up. The posture of the top half needs to be stabilized on the top half as he makes his way into foot strike. The arm works well, would like to see him as he gets into baseball shape.

Tee Exit Velocity - 77 mph
INF Velocity - 67 mph
