Scout Evaluation

Jacob Laudati, Bishop Stang, 2022, MA

Position: RHP

Body: 6-foot-3, 200-pound sturdy frame.

Pitching: Athletic. Up-tempo delivery, some effort. High ¾ arm angle, consistent arm speed, short arm action. Consistent balance point, falling off shoulders, lands open, a falling off finish.

FB: T80. 79-80 mph. (Max spin 2020;  Avg 1914). Around the zone accuracy, running action.

CB: 66-67 mph. Around the zone command, sweeping action.

CH: 72-73 mph. Consistent command, sinking action.

5-foot-8, 155-pound, smaller, athletic frame, shoulders are sloped has room to get stronger and add weight. A right-handed pitcher, who works from a lower slot, could even go lower, arm wants to work from this angle. The delivery is simple, hands start and stay at the midsection, has an easy smooth leg raise, upper body wants to lean over just so slightly, which makes me believe the arm can work from a lower slot, looks to be more natural with him doing this. The arm action is short on the backside, fastball was clocked at 66-69 mph with good action to the arm side. The breaking ball has more frisbee break to it, clocked at 54-58 mph, locates it for both a strike and swing and miss. Showed feel for the changeup, clocked at 55-58 mph. Times to the plate were at 1.85. At the plate hits from the right side, clean, balanced set up, feet at shoulder width. The swing is flat through the zone, more of a front foot hitter. The approach is more to the pull side, needs to stay through it longer to create some lift and loft to the swing. The tee exit velocity was clocked at 63 mph. Projects for me as more of a pitcher, interesting if he can drop the arm slot.

60 Yard-Dash: 8.76
Tee Exit Velocity: 63 MPH
