9/26/20

6-foot, 160-pound left-handed pitcher. The fastball sat 78-79 mph with good arm side action to it. The spin pitch is solid in shape and has a chance to be an out pitch down the road. It sat 72-73 mph, slurvy in action. The changeup was 72-76 mph and solid in fade and action. The delivery online with the feet and the slot is above 3/4 in height. The lift is repeated and good in tempo. The tracking of the front shoulder needs to stay online longer so he can tap into his extension. The command of the baseball can improve as well. Based on raw stuff he has a chance to be a good one.

Chadwick is a long-limbed 5-foot-11, 150 pound prospect. The left-handed hitting outfielder showed a fluid stroke and the potential for juice. At this event he had an exit velocity of 73 mph off the tee. The stance is athletic and square to the pitcher. The hands have some controlled movement pre-pitch, just off the back shoulder. The load is simple and gets the weight on the back leg. The swing itself is direct and flat to and through the hitting zone. The extension is well through contact and produced a lot of consistent line drives during the batting practice.

Defensively, his athleticism shows. The feet are light and controlled, as he works to get into a balanced fielding position. The glove is relaxed out front and the hands are soft, transitioning to the throwing position. During this event Chadwick was 76 mph on his throws from the outfield, with a long arm-swing. His finish was out in front and continued through in line with the target.

On the mound, Chadwick shows some real arm talent. The delivery is fluid, balanced and has good direction to home plate. The left-hander uses a higher arm-slot to create some late run on a fastball that sat 72-75 mph. The breaking ball is a good pitch with tight spin at 67-69 mph. He also worked in a good change-up at 70 mph.

I like the potential of Chadwick’s skill-set. He has a projectable frame and a ton of athleticism. The arm talent is evident and the swing is fluid. I’m looking forward to seeing his progress.
