John Lucas Hernandez: SS/RHP, (2023) Dexter Southfield, MA. San Jacinto JC Commit, 6-foot, 193-pound athletic mature frame. Projectable and athletic during batting practice, the right-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 91 mph. (78.6 mph bat speed average). (22.0 mph hand speed average). Starts in a balanced wide stance with a small load, then uses a small stride. Bat speed is developing, shows an uphill loose swing plane and good extension on his finish. Found multiple barrels with loud contact. Aggressive approach. Projectable athletic while in the infield, made throws up to 78 mph; has sure soft hands, a natural exchange, and developing feet. Fielded the ball out front with developing athletic movement laterally. Used a high ¾ slot with a loose arm action while showing consistent accuracy to the base. The athletic recruit showcased his speed with a sub-seven 60 time of 6.94. Projectable on the mound, showing quick arm speed he had a loose consistent arm action with a high ¾ arm angle. Up-tempo type pitcher and shows some effort. Showed consistent balance point with in line shoulders. Lands closed with a falling off finish. Sat with his fastball at 85-86 mph; had command arm side around the zone and running action. (Max spin 2308; Avg 2231). He showed a straight changeup (80-82). His slider (71-73) shows slurvey action and glove side command. (Max spin 2683; Avg 2571).

2/17/19

5-foot-11, 155-pound, average athletic frame. A two-way player, at the plate feet start wider and even, with hands being loose. Shows to have separation from frame, slight arm bar, but catches up out front. The swing is level to up, transfers weight from back to front, with small leak at times. The approach is more to pull side, had a tee exit velocity of 70 mph. Ran the sixty-yard dash in 7.22, long clean strides. Defensively, arm works from a natural slot, clocked at 70 mph, throws were accurate. The footwork is clean gets around the baseball, smooth turns with open hip play. Off the mound, this right-hander has a controlled balance delivery, stays strong and long off the back ribber. The arm action is clean, has average length and works out of a high ¾ slot. The direction is inline, minimal pull with the front side. Shows to have some whip with hand from side view. The fastball reached 79 mph, working down in the zone. The breaking ball showed correct tight spin, clocked at 68 mph. The changeup is still a work in progress, clocked at 74-75 mph. Projects for me as more of a pitcher, look for velocity to jump at some point with feel to throw the breaking ball.

Tee Exit Velocity- 70 mph
Arm Velocity- 70 mph
Sixty-Yard Dash- 7.22
