Josh Martel: RHP/OF, (2023) Durfee High School, MA. 5-foot-10, 150-pound. During batting practice, Martel clocked an exit velocity of 86 mph. (66.2 mph bat speed average). (19.2 mph hand speed average). Begins in a balanced athletic stance with a controlled load, then uses a short stride. Has quick bat speed, simple flat swing plane and good extension on his finish. He barreled up multiple balls with some loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Athletic from the outfield, he made throws to the infield at velocities up to 79 mph; has athletic fluid feet, sure hands, and a clean exchange. Used a high ¾ slot and a quick arm action. During the event, clocked a 60 time of 7.47. Solid on the mound, had a short arm action and low ¾ arm angle. Shows easy effort in his delivery. He has in line shoulders with a consistent balance point. Lands square with a clean finish. Threw his fastball 78-79 mph; had sinking action with heavy movement. (Max spin 1785; Avg 1667).
