Goessling

Goessling is a 6-foot, 150 pound right-handed hitting outfield prospect. He hits out of a square set up, with his hands in a relaxed position. The swing begins with a big leg kick and a pushing of the hands. The bat-head gets into the hitting zone early and continues on plane through contact. Goessling showed some quickness in his hands during the batting practice and produced a max exit velocity of 80 MPH.

Defensively, Goessling was 79 MPH on his throw during the outfield portion. The feet get him into a fundamental fielding position, with the glove off the front foot. Goessling transitions well through the play getting the ball out around the back shoulder. The arm swing is long, loose and produced some carry on his throws. He finishes over the front leg, keeping his line with the target.

On the mound, the young right-hander uses a simple, balanced delivery. He shows good balance over the rubber and works down the mound in line with home plate. The arm is loose and he attacks hitters from a higher over-the-top slot, allowing for downward tilt on his fastball that sit 73-76 MPH. The breaking ball shows well. The pitch sits 65-67 MPH with a good shape for his arm slot.
