3/30/23

Another talented arm who just missed the preseason 2023 Top 100 prospect rankings is Maryland reliever Belgrave. The 6-foot-4, wiry-built righthander excelled during his three inning relief appearance (1 H, 1 R, 3 SO) against Vanderbilt at the Cambria Classic in Week Three. Featuring a heavy 93-95 mph sinker that he kept down in the zone, Belgrave also flashed a usable slider in the low-80s. It has progressed with slightly more depth than those I evaluated in the Cape last summer. The continued development of this pitch will determine how high on Day Two Belgrave is chosen. For the season the reliever has posted a 3.21 ERA in 14 innings pitched with 22 strikeouts.

The 6-foot-4, wiry-built right-hander excelled during his three inning relief appearance (1 H, 1 R, 3 SO) against Vanderbilt. Currently, he fits in the 4-6 round range.

8/01/22

Cape Cod: Pumped 94-95 mph four-seamers up in the zone and 91-92 two-seamers down from a three-quarter slot. Standing 6-foot-4, 210 pounds, Belgrave works pretty easy with a loose arm action and has considerable upside, especially if he can improve upon a well below average flat spinning slider thrown in the low-80s. Day 2 talent.

7/28/20

6-foot-3, 195-pound right-handed pitcher. The fastball bumped 90 mph and showed good arm side action to it. The spin pitch was up to 77 mph and should be an out pitch at the next level. The changeup is developing nicely. The delivery is online and the slot is close to 3/4. The lift is repeated, solid in tempo and very athletic. The tracking of the front shoulder is very good and he gets good extension through his direction to home. He is an excellent arm with a ton more still in tank. The body is starting to fill out.

7/18/18

6-foot-3, 180-pound right-handed pitcher. This guy is trending up, the arm is extremely quick and he shows the ability and shape with his spin pitch. The fastball sat a 85-86 mph, arm side run to the pitch. The spin pitch is 65-66 mph, correct in shape, just needs to be tightened up. The changeup is 71-71 mph , needs a spin fix to advance the pitch. The delivery is online with his feet, slightly above ¾ arm slot. The arm is quick and long out front. The tracking is done appropriately as he stays close to foot strike. The lift is repeated and good in tempo. The glove side is soft as he has minimal pull to the glove. Legit prospect.

3/11/18

6-foot-2, 180-pound right-handed pitcher and corner infielder. Defensively, threw 73 mph during the infield portion of the workout. The glove is solid and the feet work well. All of his movements are athletic. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 82 mph. The feet are wide in base. The path is long to the ball. The front foot is picked up and put down as the ball approaches. The hands work clean, 1-handed finish after contact. Solid bat speed. On the mound, this guy has a chance. The slot is ¾ and loose. The arm is long and free, the feet have crossfire to them as the make their way to the catcher. The tracking of the front shoulder can stay on track longer.  The fastball touched 84 mph, legit arm side run to the pitch. The spin pitch is a frisbee slider, sat at 73 mph, correct in shape. The changeup is 74 mph, correct in fade and action. Division 1 prospect on the mound,

Tee Exit Velocity- 82 mph
INF Velocity- 73 mph

2018 FUTURE GAMES
6-foot-3, 185 pound right-handed pitcher. Had an outstanding outing, throwing the ball the best we have seen him. The fastball touched 90 mph, arm side run to the pitch and showed the ability to touch both side of the plate. The spin pitch is a slurve, sat 73-75 mph with depth and tightness to it. The changeup is good, fade and sink at 78 mph. The delivery is from the stretch, he doesn’t go from the windup.  The slot is slightly above ¾ and very fast. The lift is repeated, small coil and he goes to home. The tracking is done well at his age and he stays online with his feet. The glove side is soft, and he stays with his arm. Big time prospect who is now getting recruited at a high level.
