Player Spotlight 

Ryan Gately: RHP/SS, (2023) King Philip, MA. 5-foot-10, 175-pound lean athletic build. Projectable and athletic during batting practice, the right-handed hitter had an exit velocity of 88 mph. (67.7 mph bat speed average). (22.1 mph hand speed average). Began in a balanced open stance with a smooth load, then used a small closed stride. Bat speed was  quick, used a short simple swing plane and good extension on his finish. Through the round he found multiple barrels with loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Projectable athletic while in the infield, recorded position velocities up to 77 mph; showed a developing natural exchange, athletic developing feet, and soft developing hands. Movements laterally were developing and he fields the ball out front. Used a loose arm action and a high ¾ slot while showing consistent accuracy to the base. Recorded a time of 7.56 in the 60-yard dash. Projectable and capable on the mound, showed developing quick arm speed with a high ¾ arm angle and a loose short arm action. Feel type pitcher who shows some effort. Tall balance point with in line shoulders. Lands closed with a  balanced finish. Produced a fastball that came in at 79-80 mph; showed running action and control arm side in the zone. (Max spin 2290; Avg 2201). His 11/5 curveball (67-68) shows slurvey action and glove side in the zone command. (Max spin 2421; Avg 2393). Has gradual fading action and arm side around the zone command on his changeup (71-72).

Body: 5-foot-10, 175-pound lean athletic build.

Hit: (RHH) Projectable and athletic. Begins in a balanced open stance with a smooth load, then uses a small closed stride. Developing quick bat speed. Good extension on his finish, short simple swing. Gap to gap approach. 

Power: 88 mph exit velocity, average 83.4 mph. 67.7 mph bat speed average. 22.1 mph hand speed average.

Defense:  (IF) Soft developing hands, athletic developing footwork, developing natural exchange. Projectable and athletic.  Laterally, movements were developing and fielded the ball out front. 

Arm: 77 mph infield velocity. Loose arm action, high ¾ slot, consistent accuracy. 

Speed: 7.56 (60-yard).

Pitching: Projectable capable. Feel delivery, some effort. High ¾ arm angle, developing quick arm speed, loose short arm action. Consistent balance point, in line shoulders, lands closed, balanced finish.

FB: T80. 79-80 mph. (Max spin 2290;  Avg 2201). Arm side in the zone accuracy, running action. 

CB: 67-68 mph. Glove side in the zone command, slurvey action, 11/5 shape. (Max spin 2421; Avg 2393). 

CH: 71-72 mph. Arm side around the zone control, gradual fading action.

Ryan Gately: RHP/SS, (2023) King Philip, MA. 5-foot-10, 180-pound athletic lean frame. Athletic and  confident in the box, the right-handed hitter clocked an exit velocity of 90 mph. (67.72 mph bat speed average). (22.58 mph hand speed average). Begins in a balanced athletic stance with a small load, then uses a small leg kick stride. Bat speed is quick above average, uses a flat loose swing plane and good extension on his finish. He barreled up lots of balls with loud contact. Line drive approach. Projectable while in the infield, registered his best throw across the diamond at 76 mph; showed a clean exchange, soft hands, and athletic developing feet. Laterally, movements were developing and fielded the ball out front. Showed consistent accuracy to the bag with a loose quick arm action and a high ¾ slot. In the 60-yard dash, recorded a time of 7.15.

Hit: (RHH) Athletic confident. Started in a balanced athletic stance with a small load, then used a small leg kick stride. Quick above average bat speed. Good extension on his finish, flat loose swing. Line drive approach. 

Power: 90 mph exit velocity, average 83.08 mph. 67.72 mph bat speed average. 22.58 mph hand speed average.

Defense:  (IF) Soft hands, athletic developing footwork, clean exchange. Projectable.  Movements laterally were developing and he fields the ball out front. 

Arm: 76 mph infield velocity. Loose quick arm action, high ¾ slot, consistent accuracy. 

Speed: 7.15 (60-yard).


 

2/26/20

5-foot-9, 165-pound right-handed hitting shortstop and pitcher. The approach in the infield is athletic and online. He threw 77 mph across the diamond as the arm is quick and clean. The foot speed is above average and he moves athletically. He should be able to bounce around the infield and play at multiple spots due to his athleticsm. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 86 mph. The setup is athletic and the hands work freely. The bat is clean to the ball and he accelerates the hands through contact. The bat has life and with strength could make a jump. On the mound, the fastball sat 79-80 mph with arm side run. The spin pitch is 66-67 mph, big in shape. The changeup is 69-70 and true. The delivery is online with the feet and the slot is above 3/4. The lift is solid in tempo and he bounces at the top of the lift. The tracking of the front shoulder needs to be aligned as he comes offline prior to foot strike.

Tee Exit Velocity- 86 mph

INF Velocity- 77 mph

JUNIOR FUTURE GAMES
5-foot-8, 160-pound right-handed hitting infielder and pitcher. Ran a 7.9 sixty on the laser at the event. The approach in the infield is athletic and aggressive, threw 71 mph across the diamond in the defensive portion of the workout. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 76 mph. The setup is even in base, front foot has a small pick up and put down of the front foot. The path is uphill and the hands work freely. The finish is cut off after contact. On the mound, the slot is above 3/4 and online. The delivery is repeated and the arm works free and clean. 

Tee Exit Velocity- 76 mph
INF Velocity- 71 mph

7/09/19

5-foot-8, 160-pound right-handed hitting infielder. Another solid showing from Ryan as he is progressing nicely. Ran a 4.77 down the line on his dig to first base. Threw 75 mph across the diamond as the arm works and the glove is soft. The feet can remain active during the process, as that will aid the process. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 84 mph. The setup is even in base, uses a knee to knee approach on the bottom half. The path is long and flat to contact, swung the bat well in the game, squaring the ball up numerous times. 

Tee Exit Velocity- 84 mph
INF Velocity- 75 mph

3/23/19

5-foot-8, 150-pound right-handed pitcher and middle infielder. Ran a 7.9 sixty at the event. The approach in the infield is appropriate and athletic. Threw 70 mph during the infield workout. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 79 mph. The setup is even in base, and the front foot steps into the swing. The path is clean and quick, slightly uphill in path. The finish has recoil. On the mound, the fastball sat at 74-75 mph, minimal arm side run to the pitch. The spin pitch is 63-65 mph, loose in shape and spin. The changeup is 59 mph, and still developing. The delivery is online and the slot is above ¾. The arm path is short on the backside and quick out front. The lift is repeated and easy in tempo.

Tee Exit Velocity- 79 mph
INF Velocity- 70 mph
