6-foot-4, 210-pound left-handed hitting outfielder and pitcher. In the outfield, threw 86 mph with carry and accuracy. The footspeed needs to improve, as he ran a 4.9 down the line on his dig. The bat has legit life to it, tee exit velocity of 88 mph. Sets up with his feet semi-wide and hands even. The path to the ball is simple and he gets the barrel head to contact. Showed well, spraying the ball around the yard and doing it with authority. On the mound, the fastball touched 85 mph with a downhill plane and good leverage to the angle. The spin pitch is 72 mph, the shape is correct and has plus depth. Shows a good feel for the changeup as well. The delivery is online and athletic. There is a small bounce in the delivery as he gets to the top of his lift. The arm is plus ¾ and he repeats his delivery. Legit chance to be a hitter and a pitcher. I am still unsure of his position defensively, maybe first, but he can pitch and swing the bat at the Division 1 level.
Tee Exit Velocity- 88 mph
OF Velocity- 86 mph
6-foot-4, 195-pound left-handed hitting outfielder that also toes the rubber. On the mound, the delivery and arm path project very well. The delivery is athletic and repeated. Comes at the hitter with a high leg lift and a slight lean to the plate. The slot is plus ¾ and the fastball plane is downhill. Fastball touched 82 mph with arm side run to it. There is certainly much more in the tank. The breaking pitch has 11/7 tilt to it, sitting at 67 mph. The shape is correct. The changeup has progressed nicely as the pitch is 70 mph with fade to it. Positionally, threw 83 mph from the outfield with an athletic approach. The arm has plenty of carry and strength to it. Corner outfielder at the next level. Did not run at the event. At the plate, tee exit velocity of 83 mph. The swing is clean and well taught. The set up is wide and he uses a knee to knee load to initiate the bottom half of his swing. The path is simple and the bat stays through the zone well. Sprayed the ball all over the place, showing oppo juice.
Tee Exit Velocity- 83 mph
OF Velocity- 83 mph.
Excellent looking 2-way prospect at the next level. Offensively, swung the bat extremely well during the event. Tee exit velocity of 87 mph. The path to the ball is simple and the bottom half of the swing is under control throughout the swing. Staying in his legs affords him the ability to spread the field with authority. Hand speed is above average and the hands are clean and workable. Gets good extension through the ball. Ran a 7.6 on the turf as that will have to improve if he wants to play outfield. In the outfield, threw 88 mph with carry and accuracy. The approach to ball in the outfield is appropriate. On the mound, fastball touched 84 mph with good arm side run to it. The breaking ball has a chance to be a plus pitch, currently sits at 69 mph with a great shape to it. More fastball hand speed is needed to the spin pitch. Showed the makings a really good changeup as well, sat at 72-73 mph. The delivery is deliberate and online. The arm works clean on the backside and out front. You don't see the ball until late during his delivery (deception). Picking up the tempo of his delivery will help aid his velocity. Legit left-handed pitching prospect as well as the ability to swing the bat from the left-side. Big and left-handed, every recruiters dream.
3/9/16
Athletic left-handed pitcher who showed extremely well last night. Fastball was up to 85 with arm side run and life. The breaking ball was short and sharp, touching 73. The changeup had fade and action to it, sitting at 73. The arm slot is slightly higher than 3/4, with a long arm swing on the backside. The delivery is on time, with a coil at the top, featuring a high leg lift. His extension out front is good and the ball gets on the hitter. Big time potential, as he has feel and his pitches play.
