Scout Evaluation

Victor Caira, Newton North, 2023, MA

Position: RHP/C

Body: 6-foot-4, 182-pound.

1/23/22

Victor Caira: RHP/C, (2023) Newton North, MA. is a 6-foot-4, 182-pound outfield prospect. At the plate, Caira had a solid round of batting practice, producing a max exit velocity of 81 MPH. He began in an athletic, balanced stance with the hands set just off the back shoulder. The load is clean and uses a short stride to initiate his swing. The bat takes an upward path to and through the hitting zone with good extension on his finish. The result was a lot of solid contact in the middle of the cage. From the outfield, Caira showed the ability to move well and create some looseness with his arm out of a higher ¾ slot, resulting in velocities up to 79 MPH. As he progressed through the defensive portion he showed consistent, athletic feet, sure hands, and a clean exchange.

1/17/21

Caira is a 6-foot-3, 160 pound right-handed hitting outfield prospect. He hits out of a wide stance, with the hands in a relaxed position. The load begins with a big leg kick that stacks the weight over the back side. The bat-head gets into a longer flat path, with his long arms creating leverage with his swing. The ball jumps off his bat, as evidenced by his exit velocity of 88 MPH. He finishes well through contact and keeps good balance throughout.

Defensively, he showed a live arm with a velocity of 79 MPH from the outfield. The feet are light, allowing him to get into a good fielding position. The glove is relaxed just off his front foot and transitions well into the throwing position. The arm-swing is long and loose, with carry. He finishes through his throws keeping in direct line with the target.

On the mound, there’s a lot of moving parts with his long limbs. He begins with a big leg kick to get balanced over the rubber. As he transitions down the mound, he gets in line with home plate. The high over-the-top arm-swing creates a downward angle for his fastball that sits 72-74 MPH. The breaking ball is a big over-the-top pitch that sits between 56-57 MPH. He also showed a change up at 63-64 MPH with good action and keeping good arm-speed.

Exit Velocity- 88 mph
OF Velocity- 79 mph
