Maryland Summer Trials
Body: 5’9’’, 165 pounds. Strong, athletic.
Hit: RHH. Hits from a slightly open stance at the plate with rhythm and a controlled rock back load with a small leg kick. Hands are pre-loaded and stay short to the ball with an uphill swing path. Swings the bat with intent and gets nice extension through contact. Strong two-handed finish and lower half involvement. Stays behind the ball well and maintains good balance throughout the swing. Really nice gap-to-gap line drive approach and feel for the barrel.
Power: 81 mph exit velocity from the tee. Showed some present strength and power to the gaps with more projected.
Arm: RH. OF - 84 mph. Throws with long arm action from a low to mid three-quarter slot.
Defense: Plays through the ball in the outfield fielding it on his glove hand side. Short, quick crow-hop staying low to the ground with clean exchanges.
Run: 4.28 home-to-first time.
Delivery: Side-step wind-up and controlled high leg kick to a tall balance position with hands held high at shoulder height. Strong drop and drive delivery with slight uphill shoulder tilt. Lands in-line with the plate and gets over the front side finishing in an athletic position. Creates really quick arm speed through release with nice extension. Showed good control of his four pitches throwing them all for strikes and moved the ball around the zone with nice feel.
Arm Action: RH. Throws with long, whippy arm action from a mid three-quarter slot with intent.
FB: T79 mph, 77-79 mph. Consistent arm-side run and average spin rate of 1657 rpm.
CB: 65-66 mph. Showed more short 12/6 shape with an average spin rate of 1858 rpm.
CH: 72-73 mph. Average spin rate of 1457 rpm.
SL: 63-65 mph. Was tight with 11/5 shape and an average spin rate of 1809 rpm.
