Maryland Preseason All-State Session II
Body: 6’3’’, 165 pounds. Lengthy projectable and athletic frame.
Hit: RHH. Slightly open, balanced stance with the hands starting loosely on the shoulder; utilized a toe tap stride to initiate his swing through a flat path from a gather load. Got to a wide launch position allowing for burst into the hitting zone; recorded a 33% hard hit rate during BP with quality hip shoulder separation on the way through. Impressive advanced metrics, notching a 24 mph average hand speed and an average of 19 G’s of rotational acceleration via Blast Motion.
Power: 96 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Doubles power and can run it out of the yard to pull on occasion.
Arm: RH. INF - 85 mph. Strong, whippy high ¾ slot with good extension.
Defense: Quick first step with a low center of gravity in the movements, showed range in either direction beating the ball to the spot while showing increased route awareness. Prototypical shortstop build with a feel for pace; soft glove hand worked inside and outside of the left foot featuring give and take. Made the play on the run look effortless; advanced defender qualities.
Run: 7.32 60-yard time.
Delivery: Started from the far left side of the rubber utilizing a methodical side rocker step into a quick leg lift and smooth, rhythmic drive out towards the plate with impressive backside leg drive. Really athletic delivery overall and finished his pitches out in front; everything worked on time and in sequence allowing for high-level repeatability on the mound. Up tempo and commanded the pace of his pen.
Arm Action: RH. Whippy, high ¾ slot with increased extension on the front side.
FB: T88 mph, 84-87 mph. Average spin rate of 2177 rpm. Lit up the zone at an 88% rate getting up into the 2300+ spin range (life).
CB: 70-72 mph. Average spin rate of 2194 rpm. Sharp, late two-plane movement on an 11/5 tilt with swing and miss abilities.
CH: 79-81 mph. Thrown for 50% strikes and slight fade on occasion, solid fourth pitch in the arsenal.
SL: 80-82 mph. Average spin rate of 2240 rpm. Developing feel on this date, mostly cutter movement. Still flashed a small, late horizontal shape (1.5 inches on average).
Maryland Top Prospect Games West
Body: 6’3’’, 160 pounds. Long, lean, athletic, projectable frame.
Hit: RHH. Hits from a balanced, open stance at the plate. Quick leg kick load with nice hand separation. Lands on-time and has a tendency to get long in the swing. Loose, athletic, uphill swing path with strong lower half involvement. Stays behind the ball well and gets great extension past contact with a strong two-handed finish. Had a couple really nice rounds of BP worked mostly middle to the pull-side with loud contact and plenty of barrels.
Power: 91 mph exit velocity per TrackMan during BP. Continues to show strength in the swing with present power to the pull-side.
Arm: RH. INF - 80 mph. Throws with shorter arm action from a high three-quarter slot. Ball showed carry across the diamond.
Defense: Plays loose with active feet and showed great lateral mobility and range. Gets around the ball and works through it fielding it out in front with smooth, clean actions. Presents the glove early from a strong, athletic base.
Run: 7.38 60-yard time.
Delivery: Pitches from the stretch with a quick leg kick to a tall balance position with hands set at head height. Sits on back side with a long kick-out stride down the mound with uphill shoulder tilt. Lands in-line with the plate with extension over the front side, full follow through and athletic finish.
Arm Action: RH. Athletic, loose arm action, full arm circle, high three-quarter slot.
FB: T85 mph, 82-84 mph. Average spin rate of 2156 rpm per TrackMan.
CB: 69-73 mph. More 12/6 shape with an average spin rate of 1979 rpm per TrackMan.
CH: 74-76 mph.
Preseason All-State Session II
Positional Profile: SS/RHP
Body: 6’2”, 157 pounds. Long, athletic, projectable frame
Hit: RHH. Hits from a balanced, slightly open stance at the plate with nice hand rhythm. Creates good hand separation and attacks the ball with intent. Small leg kick and short stride staying behind the ball well with good lower half involvement. Maintains solid balance throughout with quick hands and fast bat speed. Creates great extension through the zone and past contact with an uphill swing path. Strong two handed finish. Really nice middle to pull side approach during BP.
Power: 86 mph exit velocity from the tee. Power to the pull side present with more projected.
Arm: RH. INF - 79 mph. Throws with short arm action from a mid to high three quarter slot.
Defense: Works through the ball with quick feet and clean actions, fielding it out in front from an athletic base. Quick exchanges, soft hands, and smooth double play feeds to second base. Plays loose and moves very well.
Run: 4.83 home-to-first time.
Delivery: Initiates his delivery out of a calm lift-and-replace leg kick. On this day, he pitched strictly from the stretch into a compact balance point. Smooth, kick out stride down the mound and into his landing position. Glove separation with the ability to get over his front side was evident. Consistently repeats his delivery and displayed a strong follow through.
Arm Action: RH. Throws out of a mid three-quarter arm slot.
FB: T81 mph, 78-79 mph. Subtle arm-side run. More in the tank.
CB: 62-66 mph. Tight, 11/5 shape and action.
CH: 72-73 mph. Arm-side fade at the plate.
SL: 70-72 mph. Turns the door knob well, tight spin.
MD Top Prospect Games West 6.26.19
Long, athletic, lean body type and projectable 6’1’’, 142 pound frame. Hits from a slightly crouched, open stance at the plate with weight shifted on back side in a pre-loaded position. Short, quick stride and hand separation hitting from that pre-loaded stance. Stays behind the ball very well, strong lower half involvement and a slightly longer uphill swing path. Showed quick hands creating fast bat speed through the hitting zone. Really nice balance, excellent extension past contact and a strong finish. Gap-to-gap line drive type hitter with occasional pop. Recorded a 79 mph exit velocity. Athletic, rangy, and moves extremely well on the infield. Plays with active feet and works through the ball with soft hands fielding the ball out in front. Showed clean actions and quick exchanges. Throws with long, loose arm action from a high three-quarter slot at 75 mph across the diamond. Showed the ability to throw from various arm angles depending on the type of play. Ran a 7.71 60-yard time. Pitches from the stretch. Controlled leg kick into a compact balance point. Clean hand separation taking glove straight to the sky. Gets over front side well and lands square to the plate with an athletic finish. Showed some lower half involvement and excellent extension. Throws with shorter arm action from a high three-quarter slot with easy effort. Arm is very loose and creates quick arm speed through release. Fastball sat 72-73 mph and touched 74 mph. Breaking ball was 57-59 mph with gradual 12/6 shape and changeup sat 68-70 mph. Also featured a slider at 69 mph and a cutter at 70 mph.
