Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
The 5-foot-7, 130 pound right-handed hitting infielder had a tee exit velocity of 66 mph. The set up is tall with the bat laying on the back shoulder. As he starts to load the bat moves into a good launch position but the weight stays over the midline. The swing itself is simple. The path is direct and through contact but the lower half could be more active. I think getting a little more weight to the backside on his load would help the lower half engage. He also ran an 8.1 sixty.Defensively, he was 64 mph across the diamond. Before the ball is hit, the feet are active and light. As the ball is hit, he gets around the ball and breaks down into a balanced square fielding position. The glove is in a good position and he transitions well into the throwing position. He works through the ball and continues through toward the target. This is a fundamental young player. I’m looking forward to seeing how he continues to develop.

5-foot, 100-pounds right-handed hitting infielder. Ran a 8.8 sixty at the event. The glove is soft and the hands work well in the field. The prep steps to and through the ball need to be incorporated to aid the fielding. Threw 52 mph across the diamond. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 55. Starts with his feet even, uses a knee to knee approach as the ball gets to the hitting zone. The hands work well, strength in the frame is needed to help the swing produce more bat speed. Very young and should develop nicely.
