Cape Cod: A speed merchant who uses his wheels to ably handle center field and wreak havoc on the bases. In two seasons at UMass-Lowell, he swiped 78 total bases. He also stole 15 bases this summer, but with a 35-to-7 strikeout-to-walk ratio at the plate in 102 at-bats, he swung and missed too much to fully take advantage of his speed. That will be his challenge as he moves into the SEC.

Humphrey is a 5-foot-10, 155 pound right-handed hitting middle infielder. The rising senior hits out of an athletic stance, with the hands relaxed off the back shoulder. The load is short and gets him stacked over the back side. The hands work in his swing. The bat path is quick and direct through the hitting zone, producing a lot of hard hit line drives. During the batting practice, he showed the ability to create carries in the middle of the field and maxed out with an exit velocity of 91.8 MPH. He also ran an impressive 6.77 second sixty.

Defensively, Humphrey showed athletic actions and a max velocity 74 MPH during the infield. The feet are light as he worked to get into a balanced fielding position. He also moves well laterally. As he transitions through the ground ball, the hands are soft and the hips get into a good line with the target. The finish stays in line with the target and he extends through the play.

I like the skill set of Humphrey. He’s an athletic infielder that can play all over the infield. The bat has a real chance to be special.

Exit Velocity- 92 mph
INF Velocity- 74 mph
