Pennsylvania Commit, 6-foot-3, 195-pound projectable frame. He performed well in the 60-yard dash, clocking a speedy time of 6.56 (#1 at the event). At the plate, the left-handed hitter's 97 mph exit velocity showed his ability to drive the ball with power. Began in a strong athletic, stance, had a quick load and used a short stride to start his swing. Showed electric bat speed, as well as a simple swing plane and extension on his finish. Barreled up lots of balls with a lot of loud contact throughout the round. Gap to gap approach. In the outfield, his throws to the bases were maxed out at 77 mph; had quick feet and a clean exchange. Laterally, movements were athletic. Had a high ¾ slot with long arm action. Overall, McGonigal was one of, if not the most impressive player from the workout. The combination of strength, size, and speed is rare - and McGonigal showed it off on this day.
