Powers is a 6-foot, 185 pound catcher with a lean, strong build and a nice frame for adding lean mass. Powers hit from a slightly open, tall stance and used a leg kick to stack his weight over his back leg and would get back to even when his foot landed. There is a little hitch in his hands at load but he levels out after that. He looks to lift and when he barrels up, he creates good back spin on loud fly balls. Defensively, Powers received very well and it was clear that the pitchers enjoyed pitching to him due to set up, target, and ability to receive and block. His throws were efficient and on the bag, often times low enough to make a smooth transition into the tag for the middle infielders. He popped between a 2.02 and a 2.10 in the showcase portion and had a strong day overall.
