Cape Cod- Struck out five over 2.2 strong innings of relief in our look, driving his 90-93 mph fastball downhill from an over-the-top slot. His delivery has some effort and head violence, but he showed command nonetheless, and he has a 22-5 K-BB mark in 13.2 innings this summer. His quality 79-83 mph changeup has some hard dive with spin rates in the 1800-2000 rpm range, and his big Barry Zito-ish curveball has surprisingly sharp 12-to-6 break at 72-73 mph.
NJ State Games 7.24.18
Villanova University recruit. Wilkinson possesses a strong and physical frame at 6-foot, 200-pounds. Begins on the mound with his feet together on the third base side of the rubber. Starts his motion with a step behind. Long, loose arm action. 3/4 arm slot. Throws with consistent rhythm and tempo. Conviction behind his pitches. Created leverage over a strong front side. Fastball sat 83-84 MPH and topped at 84 MPH. FB has arm side run and downhill angle. Curveball showed big 12/6 shape. Changeup displayed late run at 75-77 MPH.
2017 New Jersey State Games (July 26-27, 2017)
Wilkinson has a broad-shouldered build at 6-foot 185-pounds. Ran the 60 yard dash in 7.36-seconds and recorded an exit velocity of 84 MPH. At the plate – LHH starts in a wide stance with weight on backside and hands above back shoulder. Uses a small foot stride and toe touch to start swing. Hands load up and back. Short, quick swing with partial hip clearance on finish. Produces line drive pop with gap to gap potential as he continues to get stronger. Defensively – shows sound footwork and a quick, fluid glove exchange especially on double play throws. Throws were on the bag with backspin. Pitching – fastball topped at 83 and sat mostly 81-83 throughout the event. Flashed a sharp 1/7 breaking ball for strikes at 58-63. Short, quick arm action with an uptempo delivery. Uphill shoulders as he goes down the mound and a firm front side on landing. Will spin off the the third base side on finish. Shows some funk that is tough to pick up. Solid prospect with a lot to like.
