6-foot, 180-pound athletic frame. One of the top performers to come out of the event. Clocked a 60 time of 7.44. Starts in a balanced athletic stance with a smooth controlled load, then uses a controlled stride just before his swing. Had explosive bat speed, simple uphill swing plane and high finish. Found multiple barrels with loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Russell showed his power in the box with a strong exit velocity of 96 mph. His best throw downs of the day reached a max velocity of 78 mph; showed athletic fluid feet, next Level hands and a quick clean exchange. Twitchy setup with a lot of flexibility. Behind the plate, showed his ability to throw runners out with an efficient pop time of 1.90-2.06. Using a quick arm action, showed consistent accuracy to the bag from an-over-the-top slot.

Russell has an athletic build at 5-foot-11 163-pounds. Stood out offensively during the event. Starts in a tall, balanced stance with hands just above back shoulder. Uses a small leg kick and stride to start swing. Easy power as just a freshman; has apparent pop in his bat that will only continue to improve as he gets stronger. In the field, throws topped at 76 MPH. Fields ball out in front of body and gathers at the chest. Lower glove exchange and short action action across the infield. Definitely a prospect to watch for as he continues through his high school career.
