5-foot-9, 170-pound athletic frame. At the plate, the left-handed hitter's best exit velocity was 80 mph. Started in balanced stance with a small load, then used a short stride to start his swing. Had quick bat speed and a level finish. His best recorded throw to second was clocked at 71 mph; displayed quick footwork and sure hands. While catching, he had pop times of 2.18-2.29; Showed some accuracy to the base with a high ¾ slot. During the event, he recorded a 60 time of 8.58.

Gerdes has a lean and athletic build at 5-foot-8, 165-pounds. Recorded an exit velo of 75 MPH. Begins in an athletic stance with his knees bent and feet even. Hands start high, above the shoulders and away from the body. Utilizes a toe tap with his stride. Short, compact swing. Hit the ball to all fields. Stays balanced throughout his swing. Took reps behind the plate. Recorded a positional velo of 68 MPH and pop times ranging from 2.06-2.18 seconds. Makes his transfer near his body at chest height. Feet stay in line with his target. Made on line throws from a 3/4 arm slot. 

2017 New Jersey State Games (July 26-27, 2017)
Gerdes has lanky athletic 5-foot-7 150-pound frame. Ran the 60 yard dash in 7.95-seconds, recorded an exit velocity of 78 MPH. Offensively – LHH starts in a tall, wide stance with hands high above back shoulder. As pitch comes in, uses a toe tap and stride to start swing. Hands load down and back. Short, quick swing to the ball, create some lift in finish and maintains balance throughout. Defensively – throws topped at 68 MPH going down to 2B, pop times were between 2.11-2.25-seconds both in the workout and in gameplay. Quick footwork out of the crouch, glove exchange is smooth and quick as well. Throws had some armside run on the bag.

Futures Preview North ( June 3, 2017)
Wiry, projectable at 5-foot-7, 150-pounds. Gerdes ran a 60 yard dash in 8.28 seconds. His pop time behind the plate was 2.11- 2.15 seconds with a velocity of 68 MPH.  Batting from the left side Gerdes has a balanced stance that leads to a big leg kick that produces a 76 MPH exit velocity. Up hill swing produced fly balls and line drives. Showed ability to hit to opposite field.

Underclass Games (September 18, 2016)
Gerdes has a slight build at 5-foot-6 145-pounds. Offensively- LH starts with an athletic stance with a slight crouch and hands above shoulder with a flat bat. Uses a big leg kick to start swing, hands load down from their pre-pitch location. Average hands and hips through zone. Still growing. Defensively- recorded pop times between 2.22-2.28. Throws had some loft to them. Average receiving skills with quick exchange.
