7/16/15 – Eric Lauk is a dynamic athlete who is 5-11, 175 pounds. Hits left-handed, plays right-handed. He ran a 7.0 in the 60-yard dash but plays faster in the outfield and on the base paths. Defensively, he consistently gets good reads and jumps on the ball and has a strong arm with carry at 86 miles-per-hour. He profiles well for CF if he could increase his make-up speed some.
Offensively, Lauk has a smooth lefty stroke and a pull side approach. He has an athletic base and a small stride and smooth load. He flashes signs of premium bat speed and stays nice and compact, staying balanced throughout. His approach will cause him to occasionally pull off a pitch on the outer half but he is definitely athletic enough to make that adjustment. He shows some power potential and it should come through more as he gets stronger.
