Futures Preview South (June 4th, 2017) Rossi has an athletic frame at 5-foot-8 155-pounds. Ran the 60 yard dash in 7.00-seconds; exit velocity topped at 80 MPH. Offensively- starts in an opened stance and in a crouch with hands above back shoulder and bat parallel to the ground. As pitch comes in, uses a big leg kick and stride to start swing. Violent, explosive hips and hands through the zone produce impressive pop for age and size. One of the top 2020s in the state from the spring season, Rossi has the ability to play anywhere on the field. Took reps behind the plate and in the infield – but started in the outfield for his high school team as a freshman. From the infield, throws topped at 83 MPH across the diamond. Smooth, athletic actions in the field. Footwork is clean and exchange is quick and effortless. Short, quick arm action on throws with carry that jump out of hand. From behind the plate, throws to 2B topped at 80 MPH, which was the top velocity from a catcher at the event. Explosive and athletic out of the crouch. Quick arm action. Pop times between 2.07-2.18. One of the top performers from the event and a player to watch as he continues to mature throughout his high school career.
4/24/17 One of the top 2020s in the state. Athletic build at 5-foot-9 155-pounds. Opened stance with a slight crouch. Uses a leg lift and stride to start swing. Aggressive hips and hands through the zone produce some gap to gap pop. Hand load is fluid, yet small – hands move up and back.
10/2/16 Rossi burst on to the scene at the event as one of the youngest participants, but showcased very well not only for his age but overall. Just turned 14 years old - certainly does not swing the bat like it. Homered to deep left center on day one, and continued to put together a great day at the play on day two. Stocky build at 5-foot-8 140-pounds, strong for age. Bat speed is apparent.
