Physical- Strong and athletic at 6-foot, 195lbs. 7.54 runner in the 60.
Offensively- Balanced setup with a wide base and his bat resting on his back shoulder. Uses a small stride for timing while loading his hands down and back. Shows off a quick bat and a barrel that stays flat throughout the zone. Made consistent contact out in front leading to repeated hard contact. Max exit velo of 86 MPH via Trackman.
Defensively- Traditional’s catcher’s setup in the crouch, athleticism present in the actions with plus hip mobility. Got wider during throwing situations and got out of the crouch quickly firing off his back leg and shuffling towards his target to make the throw. Soft hands with consistent clean transfers, he also displayed a strong, accurate throwing arm putting many balls right on the bag. 1.92-2.00 pop time and a 77 MPH arm strength from the crouch.
6-foot, 195-pound physical frame. During the event, recorded a 60 time of 7.42. Begins in a balanced, wide stance with a small load, then uses a short stride to initiate his swing. Had a simple flat swing plane, quick bat speed and good extension on his finish. Found some barrels in his rounds. Line drive approach. Cannizzaro showed his power ability with an exit velocity of 89 mph. His best recorded velocity during throw downs was clocked at 76 mph; shows next Level hands, athletic feet and a quick fluid exchange. Quiet setup with a lot of flexibility. While catching, he had a pop time of 2.02-2.14. Using a short arm action, showed consistent accuracy to the base from an-over-the-top slot.
Cannizzaro has a 6-foot, 190-pound lean frame; C/1B. Off the tee, the right-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 82 mph. Setup was comprised of a small load and balanced stance. Exhibited a flat swing plane, as well as above average bat speed and a high finish. He displayed a plus arm with strong throw downs to second that hit 78 mph; showed a clean exchange, quick feet, and consistent hands. While catching, he had a pop time of 2.11-2.22; Showed accuracy to the bag with a compact arm action. In the 60-yard dash, he recorded a time of 7.69. Cannizzaro is one of the top 2022 prospects in the state.
