NJ State Games 7/24/18
Old Dominion University recruit. Possesses a lean and athletic frame at 5-foot-10, 165-pounds. Starts on the mound with his feet apart, slightly angled towards the first base line. Throws with consistent rhythm and tempo. Long, loose, clean arm action. Smooth, easy delivery. Ball shows life, will add velo with added strength. Engages his backside early and rides it down the slope. Slight uphill shoulder tilt at foot strike. Stride direction in line. Fastball sat 82-84 MPH and topped at 85 MPH. FB was consistently located all over the zone. Curveball showed big 1/7 shape with swing and miss potential at 66-68 MPH. Changeup displayed late fade and created swings and misses at 67-68 MPH.

Old Dominion recruit. Gomez has a lean, athletic build at 5-foot-10 165-pounds. Fastball topped at 85 MPH and sat mostly 83-85 from a true-3/4 slot. Mixed in a breaking ball at 72-75 MPH with 1/7 depth and tight spin. Also showed feel for a changeup with heavy armside fade at 70-73. Long, loose and clean arm action. Tall, firm balance leg – strong lower half, is able to drive down the mound and land firm on front lead leg. Uphill shoulders as he goes down the mound creates leverage down in the zone. One of the top 2020 prospects in the state.
Underclass Games (September 24th, 2017)
Gomez has an athletic frame at 5-foot-10 160-pounds. Fastball topped at 84 MPH from a true 3/4 slot. Showcased a breaking ball at 69-72 with sharp, downer action and a changeup with armside fade as well. Effortless, fluid motion into a tall balance position. Lands square to homeplate with a firm front leg. Top prospect from the event.

Gomez has a lanky athletic frame - nice looking 2020 arm. Fastball topped at 84 mph, sat mostly 81-84. Flashed a curveball at 69-71 with sharp 1/7 shape - one of the better breaking balls from the event as one of the younger participants. Commanded breaker for strikes. Showed a changeup with armside run at 73-76 mph. Up tempo delivery, strong athletic balance point, explodes down the mound. True-3/4 slot, develops natural armside run on fastballs. Complete finish on release with controlled and athletic landing. High follow prospect.
