6/10/15 -- Jamil is a 6-foot-6, long and lean framed prospect. He pitches with a shorter arm action with some elbow climb in the back swing. He is a little bit of a head jerker and it will occasional make him cut some fastballs, however he is highly projectable. He navigated his inning of work with an electric fastball at 86-88 miles-per-hour. His fastball jumps on hitters and his fastball command and use of secondary pitches will come with more time on the mound. He is a high level prospect for me.

4/8/16 - Vangheyningen came in relief for Seton Hall Prep against Millburn. His stuff was electric. Sitting at 82-83, he got his FB up to 84-85 in the first inning multiple times. His FB jumps on hitters, and coming from a guy who is 6-foot-6, it looks even harder. Tall and lanky, Jamil has a very projectable body frame. He take a big first step in his windup and comes to a tall balance point, with a slightly bent back knee. His glove side sinks slightly as he is going down the mound, and throws from a true ¾ angle. If Jamil can get his glove side to have more of a tilt while going down the mound, it could add some extra velo to his FB. The glove side lean causes the head to lean as well, and occasionally results in Vanheyningen snapping his neck on a few pitches. Still growing into his big frame, expect Vangheyningen’s velocity to jump as the season progresses. Already clocked up to 88 last June, Jamil showed good feel for his FB and a true hard slider/cutter at 72 on a bitterly cold afternoon. The speed on his breaking ball shows good hand speed and projects to added velocity on his fastball.
