Jared Kacso, 3B/RHP, Barnegat HS, 2016
7/16/15 – Kacso has an already physical 6-foot-2 build and broad shoulders with room to fill out. Offensively, the right-handed hitter starts with a tall, slightly open stance. He has smooth rhythm into load which all occurs pre-pitch. He gets himself into a repeatable hitting position and has a short bat path and a smooth stroke through the hitting zone with bat speed and strength. He has a level finish and keep firm balance throughout his swing. Defensively, he gets behind the ball well and does a nice job working through the ball with aggressiveness. He has a low hands separation which lengthens his transfer but he gets good carry on his throws and works through his target well.
On the mound, Kacso has a mild tempo and simple mechanics which he repeats well. He pitches with some late bite to his 80-85 mile-per-hour fastball. His best secondary offering is his changeup (74-77 MPH) which is straight and deceptive as arm speed and ball flight mimic his fastball. His breaking ball is a work in progress but shows spin potential at 66-68 MPH. He possesses a high compete level that should make him successful at the next level.
4/16/16 - Kacso was the player of the game for the Bengals against Red Bank Catholic. He threw 6 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 2 HBP, 2 K. But the stat line does not do Kacso's overall performance justice. He battled against one of the top offenses in the state in RBC, and kept them off balance with his offspeed. His FB was at 81-82 for most of the night, with CRV coming in at 72 mostly. The difference in this game was Kacso's ability to throw offspeed for strikes and work backwards. At the plate, Kacso hit the go ahead RBI double to put the Bengals up one in the top of the seventh.
