9/19/15 – I’ve seen a bunch of Sayles this summer and it is clear that he has a very nice left-handed stroke. His bat path plays and he has good bat speed as well. He hits from a tall stance and has a toe tap into stride for timing. He has the ability to hit fastballs, particularly when they are middle-in. He has fine catch and throw tools and is consistently on the bag around a 2.00-2.10 down to second in-game. He has shown the ability to receive with some high quality arms on the mound and he has a presence about him that is necessary of a catcher. He will be a solid get for anybody.

7/16/15 – Sayles is a wiry strong 6-foot, 185 pound catcher from Sterling High School. These past two years, Sayles has been put in an excellent position to catch premium arms in high school and it showed at the event. He commands respect behind the dish and shows excellent leadership qualities. Behind the dish, Sayles was perhaps the most consistent, popping 1.93-2.00 the entire time, always on the bag. He received well and blocked well with two strikes.

Offensively, Sayles is the rare and intriguing left-handed hitting catcher. He hits with a balanced stance and only slightly open. He has a smooth load and a small stride and has a smooth, short stroke with present bat speed and more on the way as he gets stronger. He gets long extension and finishes with athletic balance.
