McSorley stands at 6-foot-4, 217-pounds. Strong and broad-shouldered frame. Ran the 60 yard dash in 7.39 seconds, top exit velo of 96 MPH. Starts in a wide and balanced stance, crouched into his knees. Bat rests on the shoulder before moving directly backwards in his load. Powerful lower half, helps create easy gap-to-gap pop with true pullside power potential. Ball jumps off the bat. Behind the plate, recorded pop times in the 1.94-2.10 second range, top velo of 82 MPH. Quiet hands receiving. Stays into his lower half on throws with quick transfers. Strong arm with on-target throws.
6-foot3, 195lb muscular frame; 8.05 runner in the 60 yard dash. At the plate, McSorley starts slightly open with significant weight on the back side. Loads through a big leg kick and hands that shift back and help coil the upper body. Works a big uphill swing through a ton of torque in the upper half. Lifts the ball exceptional well with pop to all parts of the field, registered an 89 MPH max exit velo. Behind the dish, he sits low in the crouch and receives well with a soft glove. Stands out of the crouch and uses a quick exchange and a strong lower half to work a 2.09-2.21 pop time paired with a 79 MPH arm strength from the crouch. In the infield, pops off the bag quickly and fields under himself with a soft glove. Throws from a 3/4 arm slot with above average arm speed upon release.
On the mound, McSorley works to a repeatable balance point and uses his lower half nicely to drive himself down the slope. Throws from a high 3/4 slot with exceptional arm speed upon foot strike. Throws the fastball 80-83 T84 MPH with good feel for the glove side extension fastball. Drops a curveball in the zone with confidence at 64-67 MPH. The pitch shows promise to be a quality pitch in the future. The changeup works 66-69 MPH with solid command of the plate.
