Asari has an athletic build at 5-foot-7 150-pounds. Ran the 60 yard dash in 6.97-seconds and recorded an exit velocity of 84 MPH. Offensively, starts in a tall, opened stance with hands above back shoulder and bat parallel to the ground. Uses a leg kick to start swing, hands load down and back. Stiff front leg on finish, produces some lift to swing on follow through. Line drive hitter. Defensively, took ground balls at SS. Throws topped at 82 MPH across the infield. Smooth, athletic footwork and clean, crisp exchange. Plays through throws to first base with momentum. High-3/4 slot with a short quick arm. Throws had backspin and carry on the bag. Able to throw from multiple arm slots. Pitching – Fastballtopped at 79 and sat mostly 78-79 in his two innings of work. Curveball had 11/5 bite at 65-67 and flashed a changeup with armside fade at 71-72. Smooth start to delivery into an athletic balanced point. High-3/4 slot with a stab and hitch to arm action as he goes down the mound. Fills the bottom half of the strike zone with three pitch mix. Balanced landing point with square landing foot.
Futures Preview South (June 4th, 2017)
Asari has an athletic build at 5-foot-7 150-pounds. Ran the 60 in 7.07 seconds, exit velocity topped at 85 MPH. At the plate, starts in a narrow stance and in a crouch. Hands above back shoulder. Uses a big leg kick and stride to start swing. Hands load down and back. Hands and swing show some looseness and athleticism; has a feel for the barrel. Defensively, shows smooth and clean actions at SS, throws topped at 78 MPH across the infield. Short, quick arm action, throws were on the bag. Exchange is clean, gets rid of the ball quickly from a high-3/4 slot. Pitching – Fastball topped at 80 MPH, sat mostly 78-80. Short arm action with slight hitch in arm swing at the top of balance point. Curveball showed gradual 12/6 depth at 66-67 MPH. Scrapper-type player, strike thrower on the mound.
Preseason All-State Showcase (February 11th, 2017)
Asari has an athletic build at 5-foot-6 135-pounds. Recorded an exit velocity of 85 mph. Shows good all around fundamentals with a feel of how to play the game. Offensively- starts with an opened, balanced stance with hands above back shoulder to start. Uses a leg kick to start load, hands load down and back. Controlled swing with tall finish. Able to hit to all fields. Hands and hips have fluid movements throughout the swing. Defensively- shows great athleticism and lateral movements. Throws topped at 78 mph with backspin. Soft hands and clean, athletic exchange. Footwork is clean and fluid. Pitching- fastball topped at 79 mph, sat 78-79 for his outing. Curveball had gradual 12/6 bite at 65-67 mph. Up tempo delivery, smooth controlled actions throughout. Arm stroke has a hitch at the bottom as it looks like his arm pauses. Lands slightly closed causing him to spin off slightly toward the first base side.
10/29/16
It's easy to overlook a 5-foot-6, 135-pound right-handed hitter, but that would be a mistake in the case of Asari, who ran a 6.90 60-yard dash and showed a good feel for hitting. Starts from an open stance and takes a controlled leg kick to square, holding his hands in a good launch position. Exhibits good balance and keeps head still throughout swing, staying inside the baseball and using the middle of the field during his BP round. Power not a big part of his game at the present time (76 mph exit velocity). Defensively, he has very good body control and his accurate throws have more carry than suggested by his 78 mph arm strength.
