2019 Preseason all state showcase
Woods has a strong and physical build at 5-foot-11, 210-pounds. Ran the 60 yard dash in 8.37 seconds and recorded an exit velo of 90 MPH. Offensively, starts tall with his feet close and slightly open. Low, hanging leg kick. Creates pre-pitch rhythm. Back elbow stays parallel to the ground. Natural lift on his swing. Had no issue driving the ball the other way. In the infield recorded a top velo of 73 MPH. Made sure to field the ball out in front. Kept his feet open to get around the ball, smooth transfers. On the mound, started with his feet both on the rubber slightly angled towards the third base line. Short, clean arm action. Released from a 3/4 arm slot. Consistent rhythm and tempo. Feet are closed at foot strike. FB had some arm side run at times at 75-77 MPH, touching 78 MPH. Curveball had sharp 11/5 action, definite swing and miss pitch when at the bottom of the zone. CB was at 64-66 MPH. Changeup displayed some straight fade at 70-71 MPH.

Hands stay locked in position, with a slight bat wrap. Present bat speed, ball flew off the bat during his BP round. Consistent, strong contact with power potential. Took defensive reps in the infield. Woods’ best velo across the diamond was 79 MPH. Moves smoothly on his feet, stays athletic after he fields the ball. Brings the ball to his midsection and transfers there. Made accurate throws from a 3/4 arm slot.
