Estes has a strong, athletic build at 6-foot-3 195-pounds. Projectable pitcher's body with a lot to like. Fastball topped at 82 mph, sat primarily 81-82. Curveball had small 11/5 break at 67-71. Flashed a changeup for strikes at 74 mph. Tall, controlled balance point, creates solid drive going down the mound. Uphill shoulders, creates leverage upon front foot strike. Landing is square, finishes with momentum toward home plate. Quick arm action from a high-3/4 slot. Shows great command, especially on offspeed pitches.
New Jersey Games (July 23-25, 2016)
Estes has a projectable pitcher's build at 6-foot-3 195-pounds. RHP with velocity still in the tank. Topped at 82 in his outing, sat 80-82 for the duration. Curveball had some 11/5 break at 71-73 mph for strikes. Windup is slow and methodical, but has some leaks in the finish. Needs to control glove side on finish which will help him stay a little more compact and under control. Big bodied, still growing into frame - the more under control he can be with that glove side will only increase command of all pitches.
