7/16/15 – Lauk is 6-foot-2, 195 pounds and is a multi-sport athlete. He is a high level athlete with athletic actions on the mound. He has a calm demeanor to him on the mound, going overhead with his hands in smooth rhythmic fashion. He pitches from a high ¾ arm slot and has a long, free, and easy arm action. He pitches largely relying on his fastball and is very effective when down in the zone. His velocity out of the windup was 85-87 miles-per-hour but it dropped in the stretch to 83-86 MPH due to some energy loss in direction of his lower half. His fastball has angle and is thrown most effectively down and to his glove side. He also shows plus-plus out pitch potential on his slider that ranges between 77-78 MPH. It is hard-biting, two-plane and late. He also tools around with a cutter (78-80 MPH) and it has some gradual bite but was left too middle in this appearance. He utilizes a curveball early in the count at 71-74 and it is 11-to-5 in shape.

His best pitch combination would be to focus full-time on fastball-curveball-slider-changeup and I am interested to see him make this move.
