Game Performance

Notes

Comments

8/13/23

'25 SS Maxime Boies closed out a strong summer with another impressive performance at the Canada Cup and committed to Kentucky shortly after the event. It’s a well-rounded game that produces offensively, defensively and moves well in all areas. The 6-foot, 170-pound left-handed hitter led Quebec in hits, going 7-for-19 (.368) with a double, four walks, eight runs scored and six RBI. Despite just one extra-base hit, he continuously moved himself around the bases and was putting balls in play, punching out just three times in 24 plate appearances. In a tournament loaded with high-end defenders at shortstop, Boies seemed to shine the brightest up the middle.

Boies was one of several standouts for the Canadian team at the West Coast Games. It started at the SS position. His ability to read balls off the bat, generate a quick first step, and create easy hops are what set him apart. His soft hands and efficient foot work allow him to get into a throwing position in a timely manner to get the ball across the infield. At the dish, bat speed, a short swing, and an efficient swing plane make for impressive bat to ball skills. He showed off his ability to drive the ball with authority as well, finding his pull-side gap a couple times in-game for extra bases, and hitting a max exit velocity of 100.3 during the workout. One of the more under-the-radar players in the 2025 class broke out this week and will be a must follow going forward.

5/12/23

2025 INF Maxime Boies was another bat towards the top of the ABC lineup that seemed to consistently chip in offensively on Friday. Some physicality from the left-side at 6-foot, 173-pounds and there’s projectable power in there as he continues to add strength. The hands are quick and short to the ball and while it’s not blazing speed, Boies still does a good job navigating the basepaths. Boies does a lot of things well on the field with a well-rounded game and will be on the scene for several more years.
