PROCASE

5-foot-8,155-pound right-handed hitting shortstop who continues to improve as he ages. The swing has shortened down and the glove is improving as a defender. Threw 90 across the infield with accuracy and plenty of carry to the ball. The foot speed is good, ran a 6.73 sixty on the laser. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 87 mph. Hits out of a wide stance, minimal pick up and put down of the front foot. The bottom half is more under control than it was previously. The hands work well and he handles the barrel. Showed the ability to spread the field at the event, the first time I have seen him do that so he is trending the right way. I like his energy and how he plays.

2017 FUTURE GAMES
5-foot-8 , 150-pound right-handed hitting middle infielder. Ran a 6.72 sixty at the event. Threw 89 mph across the diamond out of a plus 3/4 slot and with effort. The footwork to and through the ball are appropriate. Handles the pivot and can make the slow roller play. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 88 mph. Sets up with his feet wide and uses a knee to knee timing mechanism as he initiates the swing. Small bat wrap prior to separation and the path is uphill. The skill set is good and he can play, my only thought is that he comes out of his skill set too often. Needs to flatten the path, stop lifting the ball and get in the middle of the field. He is going to be asked to do that at the next level. Good prospect.

8/20/16

Second time I have seen Ben play this summer and this kid is a player. Ran a 4.27 down the line on his dig and did it with ease. The bat is legit, tee exit velocity of 82 mph as he needs added strength and weight to the frame. Barreled up a number of baseballs in the game, spreading the field and causing havoc on the bases. Sets up with a wide base and even hands. The path to the ball is clean and direct. The bottom half has a small forward lean to it, as he picks up and puts down the lead foot. The glove is solid, can handle the pivot, make the slow roller and backhand play. The range to his left and right is good and he gets rid of it quickly.  Threw 81 mph across the diamond with accuracy and carry. Could play all three spots in the infield if needed. Excellent looking player.

6/23/16

Right-handed hitting middle infielder with an advanced game for his age. Hits from an even stance with a leg lift as the ball approaches. The hands work freely and he handles the barrel very well. With physical strength his bat should be very good. Ran a 4.16 down the line on a dig and had a tee exit velocity of 82 mph. The glove is advanced and the prep steps are done properly. Threw 77 mph across the diamond and has plenty of carry to the throws. Very good athleticism.
