6-foot-2, 194-pound athletic physical build. Above average during batting practice, Sampalis's best exit velocity was 92 mph. (71.34 mph bat speed average). (23.50 mph hand speed average). Starts in a wide athletic stance with a small load, then uses a short stride. Bat speed is explosive, exhibits a simple rotational swing plane and high finish. Through the round he found multiple barrels with tons of loud contact. Pull side approach. Above average in the infield, recorded a position velocity of 80 mph; showed soft hands, athletic quick feet, and a natural clean exchange. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Using a short loose arm action, showed consistent accuracy to the bag from a high ¾ slot. During the event, ran the 60-yard dash in 7.34. Projectable on the mound, showed a ¾ arm angle and a loose arm action with quick arm speed. Tall-and-fall type pitcher and shows easy effort. Showed strong balance point with even shoulders. Lands closed with an athletic finish. Sat with his fastball at 75-76 mph; had very consistent command and running sinking action. (Max spin 1841; Avg 1705). Shows slurvey action and control low in the zone on his 1/7 curveball (61-63). (Max spin 2110; Avg 1882). Showed arm side command and fading action on his changeup (70-71). Look for a big jump off the mound, ton more in there.
