PROCASE 2021

6-foot-4, 217-pound left-handed hitting first baseman. He ran a 7.46 sixty on the laser at the event. The feet and glove at first base are becoming more reliable as he is growing into his frame. The arm is clean, throwing 84 mph across the diamond at the event. The bat has an exit velocity of 103 mph. The setup is wide in base and he uses a pick up and put down of the front foot as the ball approaches the hitting zone. The bat starts with wrap, however he gets the barrel through the zone with authority. The hand speed is excellent. He is big and left-handed, I would not bet against him putting it all together and being a scary offensive player at the next level,

Future Games

6-foot-4, 215-pound left-handed hitting first baseman. He ran a 7.24 sixty at the event as he moves well for a bigger sized player. The feet around the bag are solid and he handles himself well during the game play. He threw 87 mph across the diamond at the workout. The bat has an exit velocity of 103 mph. The hands are excellent, I would like to see them produce a better path but he is big and left-handed, which usually means it takes him longer to put it all together. The setup  is even in base and he steps into the pitch. The hands work free and clean to contact.

6-foot-4, 217-pound, large, strong, athletic frame.  The shoulders are broad, back is wide, moves and is very athletic for a bigger frame. A left-handed hitting first baseman, also worked off the mound. At the plate, a wider stance, feet are even, hands are loose and relaxed at shoulder height. For timing uses a smooth toe tap, getting loaded up on the back side, weight and hands are back on foot strike. The barrel gets in the zone early and stays.  The swing is level to up, gets long at times, but stays through it and shows monster power to all fields, had an exit velocity of 98 mph, put on a show in batting practice, leaving the yard one after another. Runs well for a bigger player, ran a 7.41 sixty-yard dash, we've seen it better. Defensively, moves well around the bag, foot work is advanced, hands are soft on picks/glove. The arm has strength threw and easy 85 across the diamond. Off the mound, shows an easy lift, with coil to it, lands across the body with an open front foot. The arm action is clean working from  3/4 slot. The fastball topped out at 84 mph and threw a 71 mph, slurvy breaker. Look for him to hit with power at the next level. Potential pro prospect.

6-foot-4, 210-pound left-handed hitting outfielder and first baseman.  Worked out on the mound as well, right-handed pitcher. Ran a 7.58 sixty on the laser at the event. The approach in outfield is aggressive and online. Profiles as a corner outfielder only, throwing 85 mph. The feet and glove around the bag at first are solid. The frame is big, thick and athletic. Threw 82 mph across the diamond. The bat has a chance, big and left-handed. Took a legit batting practice and struggled a bit in the game. That result is very common for kids that big at a young age. Tee exit velocity of 91 mph. The setup is wide in base, the bottom half is under control. The path is smooth and long to contact. The hands work very well. On the mound, the fastball sat 81-82 mph with minimal arm side action to the fastball. The breaking pitch is big in shape, sitting 66-67 mph. The changeup is a work in progress. The delivery has crossfire to the feet and the slot is above 3/4. The direction needs alignment as the front shoulder comes offline quickly. The outing was done out of the stretch.

6/09/18

6-foot-3, 195 pounds, wide back and shoulders capable of adding more upper body strength, average athletic proportions, thick legs. There is still plenty of physical projection on this rising freshman, who should fill out and learn how to leverage his size and strength as he develops. Ran a 7.85 sixty yard dash. A left-handed hitter, Gorman posted a tee exit velocity at 88 MPH. Generates torque in the swing, slightly open to start with balanced base, looks the part of a future middle of the order bat. The hands start high at the shoulder before working from the chest, with a moderate leg kick. Still learning to keep swing mechanics on time but showed of the raw power when he is. Defensively, Gorman registered a high of 77 MPH on throws across the diamond as a first baseman. Short, clean arm action throwing from a natural high ¾ slot. Moves well around the bag with soft hands. Potential to be a plus defender at first with further development. Also worked out as a right-handed pitcher. Hands start chest high and throws from a high ¾ slot, slight stabbing action on the back. Shorter stride length down the mound with front foot strike towards third base side, creating some crossfire action. Still learning to repeat timing and delivery. The fastball sat between 72-76 MPH, command of the pitch should come as he gain consistency. The curveball, which was thrown at 64 MPH, flashed 12/6 shape. Should become sharper over the next few years. The changeup comes in firm at 70 MPH but showed same arm speed as fastball. Big time Rhode Island follow in 2022, where he could become a true power bat with above average defensive skills at first base.
