PROCASE 2021

6-foot-3, 185-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. He did not run at the event. The approach in the outfield is online and athletic, throwing 91 mph from the outfield to the plate. The bat has an exit velocity of 92 mph. The setup is wide in base and the front foot steps into the swing as the ball approaches the hitting zone. The path is long and strong to contact. The addition of physical strength is warranted as he matures in age. The skill set is advanced and his best days are in front of him.

New England Procase

6-foot-2, 170-pound, long, lengthy athletic frame, with plenty of room to fill out and add weight. A right-handed hitting outfielder, who projects out to play right-field at the next level. A toolsy athlete, runs above average, clocked at 6.71 in the sixty-yard dash. The arm is an above average tool as well, arm strength at 86 mph, long and loose arm action. All throws are on a line and with carry to them. At the plate, even feet, loose hands at the shoulders, slight pre-pitch movement with the hands. The swing is short to contact, level through the zone, finishes up with one hand, needs to get through it a tick longer at the backend. Making progress offensively, just a matter of time before we see big time results.

Future Games
6-foot-2, 170-pound, longer, thin, wiry strong athletic frame. A right-handed hitting outfielder, projecting out more in right-field long term. The top tool are the legs, runs well above average, clocked at 6.75 in the sixty-yard dash. At the plate, has a spread out approach, even feet, with loose hands at the shoulders. The approach is more middle to pull, side, has enough pop to beat the outfielders, had a tee exit velocity of 87 mph. During game play collected a single, along with some hard outs. Clocked at 4.25 down the line on a dig to first base. Defensively, tracks and routes are above average, shows to have a big arm, downhill flight, clocked at 86 mph. Big follow, chance to be a draft pick down the road, needs strength and more game experience. Look for him to be off the board at some point.

6/19/19

6-foot-2, 170-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. Ran a 6.65 sixty on the laser at the event. The approach in the outfield is athletic and aggressive. Threw 83 mph from right-field to the plate. The foot speed allows him to play in all 3 spots in the outfield. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 87 mph,. The setup is wide in base, toe tap to start the bottom half. The hands are loose and free, the path needs flattening to improve contact. The actions are loose and athletic, should be a legit prospect with added strength

6-foot-2, 155-pound, long, lean, lengthy, wiry strong athletic frame, with loads of room for future development. A right-handed hitting two-way player, outfielder and pitcher. The top tool are his legs and overall athletic ability, ran 4.19 from home to first.  At the plate, more of a spread out stance, slightly open. The hands are loose, held above the shoulders, bat having tilt to it. For timing uses a small controlled leg kick, stride foot is under control, backside transfers through to front side. The swing is down to level to up, barrel is in the zone, rolls hands late, creates lift at the end. The swing is short to contact, with length on backside, had a tee exit velocity of 80 mph, a ton more in there as he adds strength. The approach is more middle to pull. From the outfield, arm is electric, baseball comes out of his hand at 83 mph. Steps through with back leg, short strider, gets uphill at times, should lengthen, will help with more of a down hill flight. Off the mound, simple delivery, stays over the back side, shorter stride, lands slightly across the body. The arm action is longer and loose, working out of a high ¾ slot. The fastball has down action, clocked at 81 mph, located to both sides of the plate. The changeup was the better of the two secondary pitches, thrown for strikes with natural fade and depth. Clocked at 63-65 mph, comes out of hand looking like a fastball. The breaking ball was clocked at 63-65 mph as well, needs more fastball hand speed to it. Projects for me as a corner outfielder, need to see him this summer.

3/04/18

6-foot-1,150 pounds, lanky and lean frame, easy to project this freshman as he matures. Athleticism and quick twitch actions present. Wentworth ran a 7.15 sixty-yard dash. As an outfielder he has the tools to succeed but needs to refine them. Has a quick first step towards the ball. Would do him well to work on fluidity from fielding to throwing. Was clocked up to 76 MPH on throws during outfield drills. As a hitter, he stands even in the box as his hands work from right above the shoulder, slight bat waggle pre-pitch. The swing is level-up, generating slight loft to tap into some of his power. Should develop ability to hit gap-to-gap. There is torque in the swing with good hip rotation. Employs a large leg kick, at times the swing can fall behind the rest of his body, causing the bat head to lag behind. His tee exit velocity was measured at 78 MPH. A right-handed pitcher, he throws from a high ¾ slot. The delivery is simple out of the windup. Generates average extension and frequently repeated his mechanics during the event. Not hard to see his velocity numbers spiking year-over-year. The fastball was clocked at 78-79 MPH, pounding it down in the zone. The breaking ball showed proper spin and shape to it, clocked at 61-62 MPH. Showed feel and ability to throw the changeup for strikes, clocked at 65-66 mph. Times to plate were at 1.75 and worked quickly between pitches. Time will tell which way he will go, projects at this point on both sides of the field, big follow for me.
