The 5-foot-10, 180lbs catcher looked comfortable behind the plate. The uncommitted 2023 showed quality receiving with a strong, positive presence for pitchers and good IQ. Showed off some sneaky pull side power to left field with a controlled swing from the right side of the dish. An interesting young catcher to watch as he continues to develop.
8/26/21
A 2023 grad that has a well proportioned frame at 5-foot-10, 180-pounds and will add more strength over time. Offensively, it's a quiet load, and is direct with the path and getting the barrel to the ball out front. He uses his legs well and stays balanced throughout his swing, getting extension out front with present bat speed. Defensively, there is arm strength and carry behind the plate and at 3rd, the transfers were clean and he goes about it fairly easy. Deringer has a lot of qualities and tools right now and is someone that we believe can have big gains moving forward as a 2023.
