McCallie is featuring a deep roster in 2022, especially with arms. Reports of Hudson Calhoun (Ole Miss commit) out this season due to injury, gives Austin Breedlove an expanded role on the mound on top of his positional duties. The wiry Bossier-Parish commit has shown upside as a two-way and features a FB up to 89. He'll play a crucial role for the Blue Tornadoes to get back to the state tournament.
6-foot-2, 180-pound two-way prospect w/ lean, projectable frame as well as some athleticism. Worked majority of the time in the stretch at Top Prospect Games, showing a quick tap-n-go. Stays short out of the glove before lengthening out in moderate leg kick and working up to high 3/4 slot. FB at 85-89 (T 2385 rpm; Avg: 2200 rpm) w/ good carry through the zone while working up and down. Tunnels a hard SL at 78-82 (T 2451 rpm; Avg: 2372 rpm) w/ downer bite that plays well off the elevated FB. Mixing occasional CH at 78-81. Originally a catcher, converted to OF. 7.15 runner while 87 from the OF and top exit velo of 92. Some inconsistency in the swing, showing some flat paths then steep swing patterns, but can spray it around w/ some juice. Breedlove is a two-way prospect, but his upside leans towards the mound w/ a solidified two-pitch mix that would suit well coming out of the pen.
