Pitching in the TX-NM JC All-Star Game this past fall, Wilson showed a very quick arm that produced a 91-96 mph heater with tail and sink. The 6-foot, 205-pound righty has a feel for two distinct breaking balls: a hard 83-86 mph slider with tight rotation and late diving action, and a sharp downer curve at 78-79 that he spins well, imparting late bite. In addition to his potential for developing three plus pitches, Wilson also stands out for his competitive demeanor on the mound.

8/19/18 - Max FB: 86, FB: 81-84, Avg FB: 82.25, CB: 67-71

6-foot-0, 180-pound, RHP showed a FB that allowed him to generate 4 swing and misses on 15 swings (27%).  Medium, athletic frame w/ well-proportioned present strength, projectable.  Has a chance to be an intimidating presence physically.  Pitches from a full wind-up into H ¾ release from the first base side of the rubber.  Quick arm.  Can get stronger with his glove-side, tends to just be along for the ride.  Wind-mill type action with high glove to draw the hitter’s eye, hides the ball.  Angle w/ downhill plane.  FB shows arm-side run w/ occasional sinking life.  Shows occasional short cut at other times.  Tight medium downer CB shows potential.  Struggled to get arm on time to pull the pitch down and create the rotation.  Has a chance to be a put-away pitch when on time.  Around the zone w/ the FB, developing with the CB.  Tools to be a strike-thrower.

8/19/18 - Home-1st: 4.53, Pop Time: 1.97-2.09, Position Velocity:  C-80, Exit Velocity: 84

6-foot-0, 180-pound, RHH showed intriguing two-way ability, highlighted by his catch and throw ability behind the plate.  Medium, athletic frame w/ well-proportioned present strength, projectable.  Has a chance to be an intimidating presence physically.  Offensively, hits w/ a slightly open, very slightly crouched stance w/ quiet hands into shift of weight, proper load and stride to square.  Generates bat speed through the zone.  Has a cocking action with his hips, learning to control it consistently.  Flashes ability to stay on line through the zone and drive the baseball, can also get off balance and create an overly rotational swing leading to a pull heavy approach.  Lot of moving parts offensively presents some timing issues.  Pull oriented approach w/ line drives when right.  Projectable pull power type.  Intriguing athlete gets to top speed quickly, shows ability to be a slightly above average runner.  Stood out defensively, presents a quality low target at times, can set it late at others.  Shows ability to get under the baseball and present balls as strikes.  Moves well behind the plate, shows ability to box the baseball.  As a thrower, features easy arm strength behind the plate w/ quick release and good footwork.  Also stood out for his leadership on the field behind the plate, talkative and made sure everyone was where they were supposed to be.
