6-foot, 170-pound RHP/SS out of Sevier Co. had a strong summer pitching out of the East TN HS Baseball League. The Cavaliers took the league championship while Newsom tossed 17 innings allowing 5 runs (2 earned) with 25 punch outs and 3 walks. In 2019 at TBCA Showcase, Newsom was 82-84 while mixing 70-71 mph CB and 75-77 mph CH. Feel for the mix with flashes of upside. Lean, athletic frame and contributes as a middle infielder, who can handle the stick a bit. Haven't had eyes on Newsom in some time, but should be an intriguing follow in 2021 after posting strong numbers this summer.
