Leatherwood is a left-handed hitting OF with an advanced approach at the plate. With three years of high school baseball left, Leatherwood has the potential to develop into a top left-handed power bat in Tennessee's 2017 class.
2020 DRAFT: A 2017 out of Christian Brothers HS, Hayden Leatherwood was the No. 11 ranked player in the state of Tennessee before signing with Vanderbilt out of high school. After transferring to and breaking the Northwest Mississippi Community College record with a .905 slugging percentage, Hayden Leatherwood transferred on to Ole Miss this season. The Collierville, TN native showed his impact early on as he ended the shortened season batting .361 with an 1.116 OPS. As a freshman in high school, our scouting staff commented saying "Leatherwood has the potential to develop into a top left-handed power bat in Tennessee's 2017 class." The power definitely presented itself this spring as he belted 3 home runs in 36 at bats.
