Luke Vierkant (2025, Goodpasture) The left-handed junior gave us our first look at him and he did not disappoint throwing a complete game, giving up only 5 hits and 0 ER’s with 6 K’s. The southpaw was a strike-throwing machine totalling 71 K’s on 107 pitches, showing confidence in any count to land his breaking ball on the plate or just off to stretch the zone. At 5 foot 9 and 155 pounds, he is far from a finished product physically wise but showed currency arm strength sitting in the low 80’s on the fastball with his breaking ball at 72-74 and a slower changeup at 66-67 mph. He attacked with a 3-pitch mix that had Davidson Academy hitters guessing and routinely unable to square up. He has been as consistent of an arm all season for Goodpasture and was no different Wednesday night collecting another win, while giving them a solid 1-2 punch on the mound. Vierkant competes and plays way higher than his stature suggests and is a follow this spring and summer.
