Tate Riggs (2024) The Columbia State signee has been on an absolute tear to open the 2024 spring season and continued his early success closing out the game against Independence gathering 4 K’s with zero base runners over the course of 2 innings to close the game out against rival Independence. His fastball sat in the lower 80’s with a slider in the low 70’s, however getting multiple whiffs and in-zone misses, exemplifying how much his fastball is playing up. For the season, he has pitched a total of 11.1 innings facing 40 batters. He has only given up 4 hits with an insane 26-1 strikeout to walk ratio. The WHIP jumps out immensely as it stands currently at .44. He has just consistently pounded the zone getting ahead of hitters and showed that yet again with 5 first pitch strikes against 6 hitters mowing them down quickly. The senior product is on his way to junior college to play ball at the next level, but if he can gain some velocity on the fastball, should have no trouble finding a four-year school as he already has a high understanding of how to pitch.
