An undersized performer at Kearns HS as he hit .448 and was 1st Team All-Region was a cog at the top of the order. Not a tools player as he ran a 7.31/60’ans the arm is relegated to 2B, which is enough for the position. The hands and feet work well and are synced up and moves well and shows defensive actions. The hands are sure and clean and can use one hand on the move and outside of his body well. The bat is a high contact type bat that doesn’t K out and puts the ball in play. The strength component is lacking in the metrics of hand and bat speed + EV, but may have not been his best BP he may have shown, as it’s hard to ignore the offensive numbers he put up as a junior. With hard work in the weight room, would like to see where he stacks up strength wise in his metrics 3 months from now at the Preseason All-State. I would urge him to be there, to gauge where his game takes him in that time frame. With another strong HS season, CJ can definitely be a next level JC/NAIA/D3 type player.
