Bryant & Stratton Commit. Controlled delivery with nice tempo. Average leg kick and gets average lower half involvement. Long arm action throwing from a high three-quarter slot. Strike thrower, excellent feel for fastball and breaking ball combination. Fastball showed later life on the pitch especially when he worked down, pitch was up to 87 on the day, sat mainly 83-85 throughout. Breaking ball was 72-76 with 11/5 shape and later life. Good feel and confidence in the pitch.

Velazquez has a strong lower half. Throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with normal effort and a free arm action. Fastball was 80-83, touching 84. Showed the ability to cut it and two-seam it. Held his velocity of 80-83 in the slide step. Flashed a change-up that was 78. Slider had some armspeed and sweeping action with some depth, pitch ran 67-72. Threw a lot of sliders, well over 50% of his pitches in the game.

11.1.17:  Hits from an athletic set up. Smooth load into hitting position. Shorter level path with extension through contact. Showed some pull side pop and gap to gap ability at plate with feel for his barrel. Sound actions at third, strong arm and able to throw from multiple angles. Like to see better first step quickness. Was up to 83 on the mound sitting 80-82 from a low three quarter, almost side arm slot. Gets run and sink on fastball. Breaking ball had 10/4 shape with big break. Tough on righties to anything with.

6.22.17: Velasquez has an athletic frame with a strong lower half. Throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, short arm action that is quick, some effort. Shoulders level and on line, falls off and recoils at finish. Fastball was 82-84 with late sink, action was heavier when he threw it to armside. Sweeping slider with good armspeed, had some depth at times and will become a swing and miss pitch when it has that more often, velocity was 68-70.

3.17.17: Durable pitcher frame. Side step with a controlled, build up style delivery. Repeats delivery well. Sound arm action throwing from a low three quarter arm slot. Gets some lower half involvement, falls toward first base after finish. Gets some backside drive. Creates fast arm speed with regular effort. Cold day and shorter warm up. Fastball has later run action to the pitch up to 84.

10.2016 - Projectable frame and body for a young 2019 arm. pitches 82-85 mph topping out at 86 mph. Has great feel at a young age for his slider at 71-74 mph. Competes well on the mound with a strong mound presence. Smart on the mound and knows how to pitch for a young player. Was an impact arm on the Western Branch HS roster as a freshmen.

3.24.16:  Velasquez has an athletic frame with a strong lower half. He has a good first step and soft hands with a good exchange. He has a loose arm action that is short and an accurate arm.
