3.17.16:  DeGrood has an athletic frame and is versatile and is capable of playing most positions in the infield as well as either corner outfield spot. He hits from the left side with an athletic stance. He has a leg kick stride and a smooth load back into a slight arm bar. His hips leak a bit forward but he maintains balance throughout his swing and has a good lower half. DeGrood’s hands are very good and he does a good job of getting to the ball and hitting it where it is thrown. He has a good approach and uses the whole field with his line drive swing and DeGrood has the potential for gap power or more.
10.31.15:  Hit from a balanced, athletic stance that stood square.  Smooth load back with slight arm bar.  Controlled stride that stays on line.  Good lower half drive with decent balance.  Hits against a firm front side.  Bat exit velocity of 84 mph.  Quick hands that stay level through the zone with good extension.  Gap to gap swing, with signs of pull power.  Fluid rhythm to swing.  Barrel stays in the zone.  Threw from a quick, loose ¾ arm slot with accuracy.  Positional velocity of 77 mph.  Good glove presentation with decent hands.  Showed decent footwork that played through the ball with clean exchanges.

2.15.15 Hit from a tall/balanced stance.  Slight arm bar as hands went back and down during load.  Stride had some length and was on line.  Good balance.  Good approach on the day but rhythm was somewhat stiff.  Bat path had some length and was uphill.  Had extension.  Gap-to-Gap stroke.  Had an Exit Velocity of 80 mph.  In the field, threw form a high ¾ arm slot with a short loose arm action.  Throws were accurate and had carry.  Played through the ball at times.  Did allow the ball to get deep in stance.  Footwork was fluid.  Exchanges were clean but slow at times.  Hands were soft.  Had some actions.  Had a Positional Velocity of 76 mph.
7/31/14: 5-foot-10, 155 pound, 3B/RHP has an athletic frame. He throws from a high three-quarters slot and occasionally rushes his mechanics, getting a bit choppy in the process. DeGrood’s fastball was 72-74 with some sinking action to it. He threw an 11/5 curveball that ran 64-67 and had good bite to it when down in the zone. He also threw a change-up that sat 66-68 with arm side run that he commanded very well.  At the plate, DeGrood had a balanced stance with bent knees.  He used an inward turn to generate power in the lower half.  Has a slight arm bar but he overcomes that with a strong, quick top hand.  DeGrood has an line-drive approach and is able to spray the ball around the field.  In the field, DeGrood is fundamentally sound.  He has soft hands and uses his glove well.  At times he waits on the ball, instead of, using his feet and gaining ground with proper angles.  Overall he has good actions and is able to make numerous plays at 3rd Base.
