Balcom is 5-10 with a lanky frame that has a lot of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a slightly open balanced athletic stance, short stride on line, smooth load back. Hips rotate and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, goes straight to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing, showed a good approach working gap to gap, exit velocity was 80. In the infield, rounds the ball and fields with a wider base and average hands, works through ball to a clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 69. Ran a 7.45 60 yard dash. On the mound, he throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, longer free arm action and normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are slightly uphill and closed, lands slightly open with an athletic finish. Fastball was 65-67, touching 68, with late sink to it. Curveball had some armspeed and was 55-57 with gradual 11/5 break to it. Change-up was 60-62 with good armspeed and heavy run to it.
